Just out of curiosity, how often do you add new grips to your clubs?Reply

Only when they look shiny and 'new'.
Seriously, when the grip feels 'hard', it's replaced. Usually I get the same brand, style.Reply

Depends on the particular club, but with the current grips I am using, every two seasons or so.
I'm playing the Lamkin N-DUR which has the the new 3GEN material and it is really durable. I clean them regularly and they don't get hard/slippery and I don't see any signs of wear in the typical spots.Reply

Usually once per year. However, I do clean them and make them tacky often during the year.Reply

I used to do them twice a year in the days when I played GP Victory. Since I've switched to full cord grips I do it more like once every 3 years or so since cords wear like iron. As long as you keep them clean they always feel new and tacky.Reply

Generally once a year, but I clean them monthly & sandpaper the cords every couple of months.Reply

New grips every spring ... and during the season I scrub them down with dish soap and a nylon brush probably once a month to keep them clean and tacky.
I hate slippery, dirty grips.

I would think the standard answer around here would be never. As in, "I don't keep them long enough to wear out".Reply

Once a year whether they need it or not. This year I tried Winn Dry Tac grips and so far I'm really sold on them.Reply

Generally, once a year during the winter months, around Christmas time. Usually too cold to play then so thats a good time for me here where I live.Reply

Depends on the grip I'm using and how much use it gets. I would say on the irons that I use the most, every 12 to 18 months. Some, unless I change the type, probably don't ever get changed unless I sell or trade them. That would be 3 and 4 irons.

That would be me, thank you very much. My buddies and I were having a large chuckle about this very topic last week: been decades since I actually wore out a set of grips.Reply

It totally depends on how much they get used.
My wedges and 3 wood once a year. Irons and hybrid every 2 years.
Driver lasts about 2 months before I wear through. (must be my death grip!)

Usually twice a year. However I usually like to try a grip or two during the year if I see something that interests me. Then I will get one or two of them and put them on my driver or PW. I clean my grips at least twice a month. I play a lot and practice as well every week. Today's grips last a lot longer than they did 10 years ago. My wife has a set of grips on her clubs that have lasted 2 years and they are still like new but have lost a little tackiness. Unfortunately Lamkin no longer makes this grip.Reply

I have a set of irons I reshafted in 2003. I put Lamkin Crosslines on them.
I have not regripped them since, though admittedly, I haven't played them constantly since then. It's only been the last couple years that the grips actually needed replacing. Prior to that, they'd been great.
I'd pulled them out one year, ready to regrip them, only to find they were still in nearly perfect shape.
Funny stuff.

I change mine every 2 years. I find that if I keep them clean after playing every time, they stay pretty fresh for 2 years. I play once a week between April and October and once a month from November to March. I love the feel of new grips, but I tend to put pretty nice grips on and I don't want to pay for them more frequently than every 2 years.
BTW, I regrip myself -- it's easy and kind of fun. Years ago, I had a local store do it for me and felt they did a half a$$'d job. Saves money and again -- you are in control of quality.
