The Rocketballz is a great three wood - had one, and used until the face cracked. ;-)

I have a Stage 2 now and an M2 - for me, the M2 launches pretty high, significantly higher than the Stage 2. The M2 is worth checking out.

Sounds like I will look into the M-2 next year. Should be good prices by then.

Shaft difference between the two?

I have a V2 in the M2 and an Ozik in the Stage 2 - if anything the Ozik is a little softer.

Adams Tight Lies 2 Titanium is the best 3 wood I've ever had, very easy to hit off the deck.

If you can, try the Tour Edge CBX. It has been great for me off the tee and in the fairway. It just won the My Golf Spy fairway wood test for good reason.

My Callaway X2 Hot 5Deep carries as far as any of my three woods. But it STOPS on the green. All my 3w's will bounce over the green.

The 5Deep is a rocket launcher.

Callaway Epic 15 degree 3 wood is adjustable up to 17 degrees. Bobby Jones 15 degree 3 wood has a shallow face to help get the ball in the air.

I had a 15* RBZ but had the same results as you. Bought a used 17* (3HL) RBZ and sold the 15* for about the same price. Great deal! About the same distance and more consitant. Bought a 2016 M2 (3HL) 16.5* just to match the 2016 M2 driver and 2017 hybrids. The 16.5 looks better than the RBZ and hit it even better!! The only club that didn't perform is the M2 driver. Still playing the 10.5 RBZ I bought on kijij for $50 as a backup to my 9.5*. But got an adapter in teh mail and plan on putting a "swinger" GD shaft into it. The M2 regular shaft feels stiffer than the RBZ stiff shaft I'm playing. Too bad the tips aren't compatible.

Take a look at the Ping G and G400s.

They are smaller than that the M2 and M4s and super easy to hit off the turf.
Not the longest, but very straight and forgiving.

I assume the M2 shaft doesn't play right for your swing.

I've got to believe the M2 head is far superior in performance, forgiveness and ball speed vs. the RBZ head.

Brian this is an issue of launch conditions.

Shorter shaft, more loft will result in longer shots from the turf. Easiest way to deal with this is to get a shaft you love and head that you could grow to love.

Tight-lies, Tour-edge exotics or something similar. Sound is going to be the key component of feel.

The 15º has its place just not off of the fairway right now.

what shaft do you have in your 5 Deep?

I have one with the Fuji 73 pro shaft. I hit low bullets with it.

Thinking of a reshaft.

I've been trying to find a 5 wood that I can hit far AND high...seems to be one or the other for me.

The 2016 M2 fairway is IMO one of the best out there. Too bad it's discontinued.

The 2018 Ping G400 fairway is ok, but counterbalanced shafts don't work IMO. The Ping club is short compared to the 2016 M2.

Agreed about the 2016 M2. I was lucky a few weeks ago and picked up a brand new one in the wrapper for around $80.

I am also a senior player. I was never a really good fairway wood player. I would carry a 5 or 7 wood for shots off the fairway. I tried a Cobra F7 3 wood and hit it great off the tee and also off the fairway. You can adjust this from 13.5* up to 15,5* and it has these raised rails on the bottom that really work. I also hit this years version the F8 at a demo day and was very impressed. Easy to hit. I recently tried a Taylor M4 but hit the Cobra's better.

It's discontinued because the new versions are better

Hotter face, sound better, and look better (imo)
