Tonite's episode was Waste Management's COO going under cover as a new worker and getting a gander at his operation. He's under cover for a week. At the end of the week he "reveals" himself at the end to the workers.
The spirit of the workers is pretty amazing and moving.

I totally agree. These workers are inspiring. I've always admired plain folk that can endure without complaining about it. After watching this, I want to improve my work ethic.

What I found amusing about that was that she rushed over to clock in, and then returned to finish her lunch on "company" time. LOL.
Agreed, but I am, purely speculating, that 1. the conveyor belt was still jammed? and 2. the policy was determined by the dork who was the manager, it was not official policy and the dork really should have been terminated when it was discovered.

I was thinking - that he probably is a good guy to have to ensure the process per se is implemented....albeit he would be inflexible if some actual thought had to be allowed. He looked like a geek. However in the aftermath they said the policy of docking 2 minutes for every minute late, was changed; and they still won an award for recycling?

Very very very. I liked them all equally well. Hard people to find, and you want to keep them if you find them.
The Admin Assistant was a real gem....had the triple wammy - multiple health problems, doing multiple jobs; and supporting an extended family....and not seeming to complain. AND she invites "the new guy" over to dinner.
I hope all the shows are as good.
P.S. - Larry's first job shows me that "recycling" at home kills jobs. :-)

That was one remarkable woman. I must admit to being just slightly puzzled as to how these folks - all (as you said) were remarkable in their own way - except the recycling boss, and all make the show, was incredible PR for Waste Management Services.

Wouldn't the cameras make the workers try to show more effort in their jobs? If they believe that their direct bosses might see the report on TV, they would certainly show a more "spirited" attitude. Just a thought.

I know some are skeptical about how they could pull it off, but the reaction to the people in the reveal showed clear surprise at seeing him. Then their reactions to being told who he was were very genuine. These people are not actors and their emotions certainly seemed very genuine.
I was very impressed with both the employees and the COO ... he seemed very moved by the employees and he was genuinely listening to them. I think he was surprised to find himself being moved emotionally by what he experienced.
I was surprised that it was a real show rather then some type of gotcha I'm the boss. The recycling plant manager game across as a bit of a jerk ... yet he was kept in charge and the plant one awards after the filming so clearly he and his staff are doing things right.

How about the comment made by the latrine supervisor... "If you get any s--t on you, it's like you've been wounded in battle and you just have to keep on going and finish the job!"

I really liked her as well... I was a bit surprised that she would invite a total stranger, pretty much, to her home for dinner. And, I thought the CEO would save the house for her and even though he did, it wasn't fully explained how he did it, although she did get a nice promotion. Like you say, she is a gem!

WM probably did not want to show exactly what may have been done for her to save her home. The last thing they want to do is publically set a presidence that every other employee with money problems could then try to use for their benefit.
I would bet, since she became "bonus" elligible with her promotion, that the company gave her a bonus for work already performed to help her get caught up.
In addition to being kind and a wonderful person, she may have invited him over realizing that with cameras around, it could be her real chance to show her bosses in a public forum just how over-worked she is and the battle she has faced and faces every day.
It was truly refreshing to see a COO in today's business world understand and appreciate the struggles of the people doing the real grunt work for the company.
